Category: Let's talk
It's coming up on that time of year again. Who else's going to be there?
Probably not me, but just out of curiosity, what kind of seminar?
I'll be there for sure! And btw, I need some people to hang with!
I'll be there.
Becky, Washington Seminar is when folks from all over the NFB come to Washington to talk with their state legislators about the issues that are important to them. Most states send delegations. I believe the National student division has a major meeting at Washington Seminar, too. The ACB has their own version of it, which I think they call Washington Connection.
And to answer Nehemiah's original post, I am not going this year. I really wish I was, but I recently started a new job, and I don't think my boss would be impressed with me asking for time off so soon. Have fun, all of you who are going, and update us when you get back.
I feel stupid: what is a deligation?
It's a group of people sent somewhere to represent a larger group. For example, the group of people sent to represent your state is your state's delegation. IT's a term mostly used in more political situations, though it doesn't have to be certainly. :) Hope that answers your question but if not let me know and I'll try to explain it better.
Ah ok, I think I get it! But dont people choose to want to go?
They do, though I think each state is supposed to send at least someone from their state. But whether you choose to go or are required to go, you're still a representative.
Thanks, Alicia, for explaining.
When I think of a delegation, I think of the Republican and Democratic conventions every four years. Each state sends a delegation.
i will be there for the first day, but i will not join any delegations, because of my work
when is it and do you have to be a member of the nfb to join? and one more can someone explain the differnece between the acb and nfb?
I'm pretty sure you don't have to be an NFB member to attend. Erm. AS for the difference between the NFB and the ACB, I don't mind the question at all, but I'd like to keep it off this board topic if we could. IT's been known to get tempers going sky high, and I for one just am interested in who might be going. :) If you want my view on the differences though, feel free to pm me, or start a board topic for the wide variety of responses you'll get. (There might already be one for all I know.)
